Measurements to record before planning the room

Record overall width, armrest width, upright depth, maximum reclined depth, footrest extension, basin projection, seat height and any required service access. If the product drawing separates chair and basin dimensions, keep both.

Overall width and side access

Wide armrests can make the external chair much larger than the usable seat. Side clearance matters for client entry, technician movement and cleaning between multiple stations.

Maximum operating depth

Reclining backrests and extending leg supports can create a much deeper footprint than the chair shows in an upright product image. Always use the maximum position that your salon expects to use.

Footrest and basin geometry

The technician works at the front of the chair, so the foot-support or basin area needs its own working space. Leave room for a stool and for the technician to change angle around the client’s feet.

Seat and foot-working height

Overall height is less important than the working relationship between seat, footrest and technician stool. Adjustable chairs can help different technicians but still need a sensible foot-support position.

Add the technician, not just the furniture

Draw a second boundary in front of the chair for the technician’s stool and movement. A chair can technically fit against a wall while leaving no room to work comfortably.

Planning two or more pedicure stations

Repeat the complete working footprint, not only chair width. Adjacent technicians should not compete for the same stool or basin-access space. Shared trolleys and product storage also need defined locations.

Measure the delivery route

Large pedicure chairs can arrive in substantial packaging or multiple components. Check doors, corridors, stairs, lifts and turns before dispatch.

How to read a pedicure-chair technical drawing

Look for whether dimensions are shown in the upright or extended position and where each measurement begins. Overall height can include a headrest, while overall depth can exclude a detachable or moving foot section on some diagrams.

If a dimension is unclear, confirm it before ordering multiple chairs. Small differences multiply quickly across a row of stations.

Room depth is usually the limiting factor

A pedicure chair uses space in front for the technician and may use additional space behind when the backrest reclines. This creates a long working axis from wall to technician stool. Narrow but deep rooms can therefore work better than wide shallow rooms for some premium chairs.

Check door swing, storage cabinets and client circulation in the same depth calculation.

Use a scaled floor plan before ordering

Draw the chair at its maximum dimensions, then add the stool, trolley and any lamp. Repeat the complete block for every planned station. This is more reliable than using the chair width alone.

For a quick real-world test, tape the outline on the floor and sit on a technician stool in the expected working position.

Include the furniture around the chair

A side cabinet, lamp base, trolley or towel basket can consume the remaining clearance around an otherwise well-sized chair. Add these items to the same plan before committing to the number of stations.

Storage above or behind the chair should also remain clear of any moving backrest. Decorative shelves are easy to position later; chair movement is harder to change.
