Summer is a special time of the year when we take off some clothes and we change our shoes. We definitely choose the ones with open toes and heels. It’s cooler and more comfortable when temperatures outside are very high. However, this kind of shoes needs our feet to be healthy and in the best possible condition. That is why you should know how to treat them in summer. If you don’t, we will be glad to tell you and give you some advice. If you want to have perfectly smooth feet – try to follow these 5 simple steps.
1. Use scrub for feet
Exfoliation will help you get rid of the dead skin and make your feet softer and smoother. In addition, moisturizing will be more effective if you first get rid of the layer of peeling skin.
For the care of the feet, salt peels are often recommended (especially those from the dead sea - due to the high content of minerals), which not only wipe, but also cleanse our body of toxic substances. Unfortunately, these cosmetics can, by the way, excessively dry the skin, especially if you have very delicate skin, so it is better to reach for more delicate sugar peels. Remember not to apply peeling on your feet every time you take a shower. The best option is to start using them already in winter and be regular. This way your feet won’t hurt.
2. Keep pumice in the shower
Use pumice daily, but remember not to rub too hard around the vault, where the skin is usually softer. Put more emphasis on the heels and toes. Do it regularly, every time when you can see that your skin needs it. Then it will be easier to maintain your feet soft and smooth.
3. Don't get your feet wet
On the contrary to what is commonly believed, prolonged soaking feet in warm water can only further dry the already dry skin. So instead of keeping your feet in a bowl of water, apply a scrub on them and with gentle, circular movements bring your feet in order, and then wipe them gently with a damp towel.
4. Moisturize them well
The skin of the feet is not equipped with sebaceous glands and therefore dries so quickly. The most problematic places are the heels and toes, which are most affected by the weight of our body and as a result they dry more easily than the rest of the foot, although we have the thickest layer of skin there. To keep them in perfect condition, use special moisturizing creams, which you should carefully massage into the skin of the feet. Do not do it in a hurry, because such a massage is a wonderful relaxing procedure. For an even better result, before going to bed, put on a foot mask and sleep in cotton socks (thanks to this, the preparation is better absorbed into the feet and does not stay mostly on the duvet).
5. Don't forget about sun protection
Despite the constant appeals of dermatologists, many people still forget about proper sun protection. In this matter, you should be very accurate and do not forget about your feet. It's not just the feet that need proper protection. The cuticles in the lower part of the nail are like seals protecting newly growing nails from excessive moisture and bacteria. The sun, wind and sand cause these cuticles to dry out, and this in turn can badly affect the growth of nails. To prevent this, do not forget about adequate sun protection in these places.
